Printing on plastic cards is becoming increasingly popular these days. This may be accounted to how plastic cards are now being used in business, as drivers license, for membership and identification. These items are flexible and are durable, making them preferable than the traditional card stocks. Cards can come digitally made. They are printed through the use of digital printers and computer systems without any user interference. The method in which they are printed can be integrated with using digital cameras. It is ideal for making access control licenses, IDs and even plastic money card. By digitally producing them, they can be made tamper-proof and secure through superimposing of fingerprint samples and holograms on them. These may also be thermally printed. Ink will be transferred from ink ribbons heated with thermal print heads and on to the card. Another method is dye sublimation. This involves the transfer of dye instead of ink on to the card from heated dye ribbons. Heated dye will be converting to gaseous state though, due to chemical reaction. This then diffuses into plastic prints. A card can be made out of PVC composite or PVC-Polyvinyl chloride.
